Resetting a Password

Users must change their Propel Rx passwords regularly to comply with NAPRA requirements. The frequency that the password must change depends on your province:

  • Every 60 days for pharmacies in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward island.

  • Every 90 days for pharmacies in Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario.

Resetting a User's Password

A user's password can be reset from the Security window once per calendar day. Depending on the user who initiated the password reset, the password entered in the Security window may be temporary:

  • If a user resets their own password, they are not prompted to change their password on their next login.

  • If the ADM or Pharmacy Manager user resets another user's password, the user is prompted to change their password on their next login. The temporary password granted by the ADM or Pharmacy Manager user is valid for 5 days.

To change a user's password:

  1. Open the Security window.

    If you can't remember your password, log in as ADM or the Pharmacy Manager. Either user can reset another user's password without entering the old password.

  2. If you logged in as ADM or the Pharmacy Manager user, select the user whose password needs to be reset.

  3. Select Password. The Change Password window opens.

  4. Enter your old and new password. If you opened the Security window using the ADM or Pharmacy Manager user, you only need to enter and confirm the new password.

  5. Select OK.

  6. Select Save.

  7. Select Exit. A prompt reminds you to log out and back in on all computers to apply the changes. Select OK to close the Security window.

Users can reset their passwords without administrative permissions. This is done by obtaining a temporary password through the Store Portal and creating a new password.

To reset a password:

  1. On the Propel Rx login window, select Forgot Password?

    The Store Portal opens in an internet browser.

  2. Log into the Store Portal.

  3. In the Password Reset form, enter the following information:

    • Store #

    • Username

    • Employee #

    • Date of Birth

  4. Select Submit. A new page opens that displays a temporary password.

  5. Select Copy. The password is copied to the computer's clipboard.

  6. Return to the Propel Rx log in window.

  7. In the User Name field, enter the user name.

  8. In the Password field, select Ctrl + V on the keyboard to paste the temporary password copied from step 5. A prompt displays that the password has expired.

  9. Select OK. A prompt displays to enter a new password.

  10. In the New Password and Confirm New fields, enter a new password.

  11. Select OK.

Changing a User's Expired Password

When the timeframe for a password has elapsed, a user is prompted to change their password upon logging into Propel Rx. This prompt also appears upon login if the user's password was reset or their account was unlocked by the ADM or Pharmacy Manager user.

To change an expired password:

  1. Log into Propel Rx.

  2. If your password has expired, the Change Password window opens.

  3. Enter your new password.

    In Saskatchewan, you must also enter your old password.

  4. Select OK.

  5. Log into Propel Rx using your new password.
